March 28th

Beautiful weather - WSW 8-12!!!!

OK - Bermuda had enough ribbing earlier last week when the low temperature in Bermuda hit 49 degrees - which just happened to be colder than most of the US East Coast + London (UK)! This doesn't happen very often - but the front that came through certainly made it feel extremely wintry!! Luckily for sailing - the weather warmed up and the breeze dropped to a nice comfortable 8-12 from the WSW - just in time for Saturday!

I'm not sure of the overall results (will have to wait for the results to go online from the RBYC), but it was extremely tight racing with Solna, Ariel, Privateer and Vrengen all competing for the top positions.

March 28th also was the last qualification date for the 2009 IOD worlds in Sweden. Again without the official results - I'm not positive of the outcome, but those who were probably counting a bit closer than us figure that Ariel pipped Solna by 1 point after 14 races. This was probably the most competitive qualification series in 10 years!! Well done to everyone who came out - we had 8 boats out for the majority of the series - which was great!! Hopefully we will get a couple more out for next weekend's RHADC Spring series - which will be the last tune up prior to IIRW!
